Our event began at 8:30 am at the Dolores Public Lands Office on the
San Juan National Forest and BLM.
Folks gathered made their lunches and we had some
education from our weed specialist Roger Baker.
Roger Baker then took us out to the field and showed us
first hand the types of weeds we were looking for.
We then divided into our 4 groups, each group having a
weed specialist with them and dispersed.
We reconvened at the Public Lands Office at 2 pm for
homemade brownies, lemonade, picture taking of our stash and drawing for
prizes and of course the wonderful T-shirts. Seven of our 22 were youth,
and excited about the project.
A total of 22 folks pulled 65 bags full of Knapweed and
Musk Thistle. We estimated approximately, 3250 noxious weeds!!!
