CWMA Awards & Nominations

The CWMA Awards Committee is ready for nominations!
Please review the awards and their respective criteria and act by nominating worthy individuals for one or more of the awards. The winners will be announced in Colorado Springs at the Annual Conference. Thank you!

COUNTY COMMISSIONER AWARD
This award recognizes a county commissioner who has advanced the objectives of weed management through the support of programs in his or her county. This individual has demonstrated leadership and initiative in furthering county weed management programs and objectives. This award may be presented to a member or someone outside CWMA.

GOLDEN BOOT AWARD
This award recognizes a member’s skill in dealing with a humorous or difficult situation. The situation may have resulted in either success or failure. Winning is not the issue with this award—effort is! This is a traveling trophy and may not be awarded each year. The award winner must be a member.

LIFETIME SERVICE AWARD
This award recognizes individuals who have, over time, demonstrated outstanding leadership and dedication to CWMA. This includes active participation in Association committees, the Board of Directors or Leadership Team. The award winner must be a member or have been a past member.

THE NEWCOMER AWARD
This award recognizes a "newcomer" who has advanced the objectives of weed management through the creation of a new program or support of an existing weed program. This individual has demonstrated leadership and initiative in furthering management programs and objectives and will have done so without regard to budget, support or other obstacles. This individual may work for a city, county, park, state or federal agency, private organization or commercial company.

PACESETTER AWARD
This award is given to a member who through outstanding individual effort, committee leadership, and committee participation or association leadership helps CWMA achieve its goals. The award winner must be a member.

PARTNERSHIP AWARD
This award recognizes local groups or organizations that have advanced the objectives of weed management through technique, team effort, and communication or education efforts. This award recognizes an effort that serves as an example to assist weed managers in meeting their integrated weed management goals. This award may be presented to members or someone outside CWMA.

RETIREMENT RECOGNITION
We would like to recognize those people that are retiring from weed management who have contributed significantly to either CWMA or the weed management profession in Colorado, but don't necessarily fit in one of our other award categories. This award may be presented to a CWMA member or someone outside of CWMA.

WEED MANAGER OF THE YEAR

This award goes to an individual working in any facet of weed management, who has done an outstanding job to further weed management in Colorado.  This individual may work for any city, park, county, state or federal agency, or commercial company. This award goes to the individual who has best achieved success without regard to budget, agency and citizen support, or other obstacles. This award may be presented to a member or someone outside CWMA.
